How Inconvenience Levels You Up

In 2019, I spent at least one week of every month on the road. Often two weeks.

In 2020, I didn’t. Obviously.

This week, I was on set with an outdoor grill company in Pismo and Santa Cruz. Big 10-hour days out in the sun, on the beach, in the woods. We got a lot of amazing shots.

After the first day of shooting, I got to my hotel room, opened my laptop, and sent emails for two hours. I immediately got flashbacks to 2019. Pre-producing one project, while producing another, while post-producing a third. It’s a lot.

When we travel, or do anything inconvenient, it forces us to level up. To make smarter, more efficient decisions. Because we have to!

It’s not easy. Especially after 2020. And I’m mostly writing this to remind myself that I used to do this all the time. But I also want to remind you to not be afraid. Some of the most difficult experiences in our lives are also the most important.

A life of leisure is no life at all.
