Where Ideas Come From

I just finished the huge production week I mentioned a few posts ago. Six days of shooting in a row, with an edit deliverable turnaround 36 hours after that.

I was on set between 6 and 12 hours each day, and I was planning the next day in the remaining hours. I found some time for sleep in there, and a little time to write for this blog.

What I had no time for was reading. I didn’t read a thing last week. And guess what? Writing became pretty difficult, too.

If you want to produce consistent and compelling work in a creative space, you need to consume content in that space every day. If you want a harvest, you have to plant. If you want ideas, you have to read, watch, and listen. It really is that simple.

What are you reading today?
