Don’t Call It A Comeback

A mistake many young creators make is announcing “I’m back!” after a period of not posting on social media. 

The reason this is a mistake is because very few people realized you were even gone. There is so much content online, that it usually takes more than six months for people to realize that one of their favorite creators hasn’t been posting. When you tell people you’re back, it only serves as a reminder that you hadn’t been posting. 

Announcing your return is a sign of amateurism. As if this time things will be different. Your posts have dates on them, which means everyone can see that you only posted five times since your last comeback. The truth is, creating content and growing an audience is work that needs to be done over the long haul. Years and years of consistency is what earns the trust of an audience. Announcing “I’m back” does more harm than good to your audience’s trust. 

Instead, just post. And then post again. And again and again, until your audience grows in size and trust. If you slip into inconsistency for a week, or a month, or a year, don’t worry about it. Just get back on the horse and keep creating. Because that’s what it takes.
