What Makes You Think You Can't Publish Something?

I spent a few hours walking through bookstores this weekend. I wasn’t looking for anything specific. I was just killing time waiting for my tables to be ready at restaurants.

I was struck by the sheer number of books that exist. Even in these small shops, these tiny corners of some shop owner’s collection, there were tens of thousands of books. Different, interesting, niche books.

IMDB lists over 500,000 unique feature-length movies. Spotify hosts over 82 million songs. Research center UNESCO states that over two million books are published each year. 500 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every…minute

So what makes you think you can’t publish something?

Millions of others have gone before and millions of others will come after you. You, on the other hand, only have this moment to publish something. You have this limited window of time to contribute what you only could.

Will you join the ranks of the creators? Or will you shrink back, convincing yourself it’s too hard, ignoring the millions of less talented people who have published before you?
