Always Pick Up The Phone

In the game of time management, task batching is a surefire way to optimize mental energy and increase efficiency.

Focusing on one thing at a time, or a group of similar actions, increases focus and personal output.

I know creatives who turn off their phones during editing sessions in order to stay in their flow state. I’m a big fan of this, as finding flow state as often as possible is the best way to achieve top-tier work.

But there are some clients I always pick up the phone for.

I don’t do it with everybody. There are a number of work connects I have who  bring me profitable work. But if I’m in a flow state, I’ll call them back when I’m done. This isn’t the case with my best clients.

I’ve identified three different perfect clients. Clients who respect me, understand the value of my time, who are kind, and hard working. They’re also people I enjoy talking to, people who have become genuine friends.

If making a little efficiency sacrifice to serve clients like this isn’t worth it, who is worth it? Pick up the phone.
