Money Is A Game - What I Wish I Knew #2

Money is points in the game. Money is gas in the tank. Money one metric to track.

Money is not who you are. Money is not your quality of life. Money is not your happiness.

These are things I wish I knew when I first started freelancing. When I began, I tied my identity to the metrics of how my money was doing. Money came in? I was stoked. Money was low? I was defeated. This overly emotional view of money not only created a stressful life, it also distracted me from the correct view of money.

The correct view of money is an unemotional one, especially when it comes to business. A view of money as a tool or a gauge could have helped me make more sound decisions. Decisions to invest, make more, or save. All my money decisions were tied to emotional wins, so when logical analysis was needed, I was lost.

What is your view of money? Is it helping you? Is it creating a stressful life?

Let me know. Good luck out there!

PS I’ve decided to put my Zero To One series on hold until I have more time around Thanksgiving to really dig in and write these well. I want them to be references for you to look back on when you do take the first step from zero to one.
